If your NES controller's buttons are sticky or unresponsive, it's likely that the conductive silicone pads are worn out or dirty. The first step to restoring your console is to try cleaning the pads with a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't work, consider swapping them out for a brand new replacement set.

NES = Rounded top start-slect silicone
Famicom = Flat top start-slect silicone

They work well but…

They’re much stiffer than OEM. Probably 2-3x stiffer. The B and A buttons feel nice and clicky and are great. The Dpad membrane has some difficulty with diagonals. I haven’t played enough with them to see if there’s a break in period.

A great replacement for the original pads

I was concerned that diagonal presses wouldn't be responsive, a common issue with aftermarket pads. But I'm happy to report that these pads do not have that issue. Diagonal presses work great, and the overall feel is snappy and comfortable. Highly recommended!
