This inexpensive kit allows you to safely backlight your original Game Boy or Game Boy Pocket.

Connecting a backlight directly to the Game Boy's 5V source puts additional strain on the existing regulator, which can lead to overheating or failure. This kit allows you to bypass the stock regulator to safely ensure the backlight's consistent brightness.

Features

  • Compatible with the DMG and MGB
  • Enables the safe installation of a backlight
  • Helps prevent stock regulator failure
  • Compact footprint

Documentation

Included

  • 1 x 5V voltage regulator

  • Wiring kit not included

Fantastic quality, even greater customer service

I’m addicted to retromodding. If you want to guarantee the absolute top quality aftermarket shells then this is definitely the place.

On top of everything, their customer service is unmatched, if you’re not satisfied with something they will make it right.

5v Regulator

Regulator works well, and it's a good price. It's not strictly necessary unless you intend to play for hours on end, you can do a great build without one but if you can solder and have a few bucks to spend it's a nice touch

Does exactly what it says!

I'm not a very techy guy, but after installing the regulator, it does exactly as advertised. To quote Elliot from The Retro Future, "It does exactly what it says on the tin".
