This custom, plug-and-play, Game Boy Advance SP Battery stands out from other alternatives by providing a true 900 mAh capacity to your GBA SP, enough to fuel newer IPS LCDs for hours on end.

This item consists of our custom iteration of Makho's GBASP Battery Board. It's assembled in a custom-made 3D printed housing (available for free on our Thingiverse) and uses replaceable high quality 900 mAh LiPo batteries, like our other battery pack products.

Features

Included

  • 1 x Game Boy Advance SP Battery

Notes

  • Phillips Screwdriver is required to remove the battery door separately
  • Although the LiPo manufacturer claims a capacity of 900 mAh battery life, exact capacity may vary (usually higher).
  • Please note that batteries are prohibited from being shipped into Germany. Orders to Germany will be canceled and refunded. Unfortunately, this situation is out of our control. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
  • Our battery packs are produced in-house, meaning some production time is always involved. Each battery goes through a rigorous quality assurance process before shipping.
  • With a minor modification, you are able to use this battery with the original Nintendo DS.

Super easy to install. Simple battery change that’s it. Not that hard.

It works

I used it in my GBA SP AGA-101 and it fits and works, before, I was using a 20 years old OEM battery and I was getting only 30 minutes of playtime without having to connect the charger. Now with this battery I get 4 hours of playtime, I'm satisfied.

Good but not as great as the original sp battey

The original battery in my 2003 gba so 001 had seen many hours of use over the years and it was averaging 2-3 hours of playtime with the light on after 20+ years. I replaced it with a new RM 900 mah battery that is rated for more juice and it has a smaller footprint (excluding the plastic frame). The new battery snapped into place without any soldering. After I initially installed it, my gameboy did not turn on. I removed the battery and inspected it closer. Somehow the contacts on the new battery’s frame assembly were not sitting in just right. Took a few tries to get it to work with the sp. whenever I would pull it out to try putting back in, the battery would come apart from the plastic frame that it’s assembled with. Third try was a charm. Unfortunately, I’m still not getting as much battery life as the original sp battery did back when it was new. This new battery gives me the low battery red led light after about 5-6 hours of playing. An improvement over my swollen battery but still not as good as the original performance from the smaller mAh orginal gba sp battery. I’ve heard great things about this RM battery from a few people online so maybe mine isn’t an accurate representation of the RM’s usual battery’s performance. Either way, it’s the experience that I’ve had so I can’t say otherwise for the time being. I’ve thought about picking up another sp to mod but I’m not sure if I’d buy another RM battery given my experience and the fact that the price point of this battery is higher than other reputable competitors batteries with similar mAh ratings. At the end of the day, I’m happy that I get to play my gameboy again for longer periods of time before it heads back to the charger.
