IPS LCD for Game Boy Color

The IPS LCD screen is a bright, crystal-clear, colorful screen that gives new life to Gameboy games. I especially appreciate that it was easy to install, with zero soldering and easy connection, only needing to trim some solder points on the circuitboard.

First time modding a gameboy and I was nervous going into it. It works great, and exactly as I expected it to! The bracket to center the screen fits perfect. In the picture I don’t have the additional 3D printed piece that would go between the buttons and the screen because it’s visible thru the clear case. It fits well and would keep the screen secured. Make sure you watch videos and get familiarized with the components. Kapton tape is awesome, I would order it on Amazon. The parts are fragile so be gentle. Avoid ESD with an anti-static bracelet or mat. Shipping was quick and it was packaged well.

Had some initial trouble with a cracked screen, it was replaced immediately and quickly. Great businessman/woman, will come back again. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Quite an easy install kinda ignored the brightness control, the look is crisp and looks awesome and it's just night and day compared to stock

Got this to upgrade my GBC I wanted to play in the dark while in bed. Playing games on my phone just wasn't the same as having actual buttons to press. This was an easy install followed the guide meticulously used kapton tape refurbished my board prior with fresh solder cleaned everything with IPA and installed an upgraded speaker also purchased for Retri Modding. I decided to keep the original case as a later project to retro bright but installed everything into a new semi gloss black case. Retro Modding is great their selection pricing and customer support are all top notch

Couldn’t be happier with this mod. Everything works as it should and love that it comes with the printed brackets. The screen sits tight inside the shell with the brackets alone. If you’re looking to upgrade your GBC look no further.

Even though the screen has some little quirks (some artefacts / ghosting at rare moments), it gives a colourful, sharp image to the game boy color. Personaly, the screen i've received had a sort of ribbon cable and not a little wire like shown in the tutorial. I tried putting it in different places in the shell but it doesn't do anything.

Easy to install, I did not have a pre-cut shell so I used a dremel. It was not that hard to modify the shell to fit the IPS screen, also the 3D print bracket helps aline the screen really well. I highly recommend this product.

The colors are fantastic, the screen is so bright and vibrant, the upgrade is just so very worth the work.
Accedentally broke my first one so if you're modifying a genuine/replacement shell, please make sure you have enough clearance for the screen, the bracket that goes behind the screen, and the circuit board.

This brings my Gameboy color into this decade with a much more enjoyable playing experience. Trimmed my shell and the included bracket hold the screen in place right where it should be. I did have to shave a little of one side of my IR cover to get the touch sensor to fit in it, but can't complain!

As someone that isn't the most technically inclined I found the entire experience quick and easy. The screen is a lot brighter than I thought it would be, which is great. If it ever comes up in the future I will 100% recommend this product.

To increase GBC's playability

The screen looks amazing. It's surprising how much the GBC was putting out that you never noticed because of the screen. Kit was super easy to install and thanks the included bracket it's perfectly centred. the only minor issue I had was that the IR cover on the IPS ready case still needed further modifications to get it to fit.

Screen looks excellent, and I appreciate the different brightness levels. The installation guide was great as well. Only slight issue I have is the occasional screen tear that shows up when playing games. Otherwise it's a perfect upgrade!

This screen is great and was easy to install, will get an SP screen next.
