This custom, high-quality, long-lasting rechargeable battery pack is designed especially for the Game Boy Advance.

The product consists of a board and an attached, rechargeable LiPo battery. The unit fits comfortably in the console's battery compartment with minimal trimming. It charges via micro USB without you having to turn off your console.

 

The NEW and revised Micro USB v1.5 offers 1700mAh of capacity, thanks to an optimized PCB layout allowing a 20% gain from our previous v1.4 at 1400mAh.

Notes

  • This product page is filled-in with the best of our knowledge, feel free to raise any concerns you may have.
  • Battery packs ship with the switch set to OFF. Please remember to turn the battery pack ON before powering on your console.
  • Our battery packs are produced in-house, meaning some production time is always involved. Each battery goes through a rigorous quality assurance process before shipping.
  • Parts of the console's battery compartment need to be trimmed in order for the battery pack to fit into the shell. We strongly recommend purchasing an aftermarket Game Boy Advance shell to avoid damaging your genuine shell.
  • These battery packs have been made with aftermarket shells in mind.
  • Battery cover does not need to be trimmed if you prefer to keep the console's original aesthetic, but this option requires removing the battery cover whenever you want to charge the battery pack. 
  • If, at any point, you want to return to using AA batteries, all you need to do is put the metal contact back in the housing and insert your AA batteries. Even though the shell was trimmed for the battery pack, the AA batteries will fit safely and will power on your console.
  • Due to restrictions imposed by USPS, batteries going to the United States can only be shipped via ground transportation, which may extend the time it takes for you to receive your order.
  • Please note that batteries are prohibited from being shipped into Germany. Orders for individual batteries and for custom consoles with this battery packs will be cancelled and refunded. Unfortunately, this situation is out of our control. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Warning

  • This product is fragile and should be handled with care. It uses a rechargeable Lithium ion polymer (LiPo) battery and, as with all LiPo batteries, it can leak or explode if not handled properly. By purchasing this battery pack, you acknowledge that you take responsibility for how you treat this product.
  • Do not force the battery to fit in the Game Boy Advance battery compartment. Trim more plastic away from your shell until you guarantee a good fit.
  • Do not leave your battery pack unattended if it's close to a heat source
  • We recommend not removing and reinserting the battery pack more than you have to. Once you have installed it in your system, leave it there and charge it either by removing the battery door or by trimming the battery door to fit the charger. Repeated removal of the battery pack can cause premature wear on the outer foil, leading to potential hazards.

Great, except...

Works just as I thought it would but don't be like me and order the wrong one. I didn't know they still offered the micro USB and though it was USB-C, but no fault of the product, just my mistake. But the quality of the pacl is exactly as it should be.

It does lower the battery life a little bit, but not having to deal with AA's are nice. Also, the rechargeable battery pack can be removed if you change your mind.

First off, I just wanna say… I’m SO IMPRESSED! It works wonders and will save me from EVER having to use AA batteries again! My only regret is NOT getting it sooner!

L Ion battery pack

it works fine I bought it to replace the one I got with the custom game boy which leaked acid all over the inside of the machine after 5 months. Here's hoping it really is improved. you have to be very careful about inserting it as it just about almost fits and you can actually damage the plastic membrane on the 'battery' pushing it in and thats on a pretrimmed case and trim your own case my battery pack door came with knobs that lock it in place broken off. Trim your own.

Unless i did something wrong ( not out of the question )
I changed it and put on the back of the gameboy advance and nothing no power. Put regular batteries and it turns on

Be sure to read instructions!

I messed up, my fault, battery is ruined after recharging battery a second time (less than a week of use). Worked well for that week after the first charge.

Recharging by removing battery door unseats battery from battery well and you will have to reseat it to power the console. Better to trim your battery cover to prevent this as this is where I ruined the battery.

In any case, I'm still frustrated by this situation even if it was all my fault.

does what it needs BUT

its a lithium based battery pack that does work as advertised. but theres a few issues i have with the module itself.
first some background, i have a i used a retrosix prestige IPS shell and USB battery cover i bought for this. and my opinions are based around this shell and battery cover

pros:
- its rechargeable, so no more AAs needed.
- replaceable and upgradable battery.
- the module itself can be repositioned, if your willing to bend a battery terminal

cons.
- the USB connecter does not line up nicely with the retrosix USB-C battery cover i have, so i had to sand it into shape
- after sanding, the connecter would not stay inserted and would pop right out.
after carefully unsticking the PCB from the battery, lineing it up and resticking it, as well as bending the positive terminal it has a better fit but its not optimal.

my advice for whoever designed the PCB is to choose a different USB-C connector or make tighter tolerances, there are some short ones that will let it sit closer to the edge so it gets a better fit.
after my changes it looks like there's a 2.8-3mm gap from the end of the connecter shield to the outside of the battery cover, this means a (i used my caliper to measure) it also it feels like the connecter is not fully inserted as there is no satisfying click.

There is no way for us to have it fit with every different shell and battery cover available out there. While we try to have them work on most, they will indeed not work properly with R6 shells, because of design differences.

Great Product

It does what it's supposed to do, battery capacity from the pack I received seems good. If you want to be able to plug and charge a lithium battery instead of other options like alkaline or NiMH this will do the job. I believe it's recommended that you flip the switch on the pack's PCB to "off" if storing long term without use.

GBA Ultimate Rechargeable Battery

So awesome! Easy install and a minimal amount of trimming of the GBA shell. Figured there would have to be soldering done but I was surprised there is no need! I am so excited to play my GBA with the LCD V2 IPS screen and now a rechargeable battery!
